- Jonathan Rodger Review added: 2018.09.05★ ★ ★ ★ ★I have used the legendary Phil Baister at Staithes Garage to look after all of my Mercedes-Benz motor cars for the best part of ten years now. His expertise is second to none. There is no question that his garage is not at all like a main dealer's: there is no espresso bar, no pretty girls on reception, no fancy documents. Nor are his prices and, more to the point, he knows more about these cars than the main dealer does. In fact, when the local main dealer is stumped, it is to Staithes that they turn.
The only problem I ever encounter here is that he is sometimes too busy to take my car or to get all of the jobs done in good time.
I note the previous reviewer (in somewhat weasel words) expresses what he admits is an entirely unfounded concern that he has been charged for work which has not been done. I have no doubt about Baister's integrity on this score: it is infinitely more likely that work has been done but not charged for.
